An industrial/organization psychologist job description? Could someone give me a fairly specific example of what an industrial/organzational psychologist may do when hired for private consultation by a company? I cannot find a site that gives any specific example. They all say that companies can hire private I/O psychologists to help improve organizational structure. What does that mean? Any of it? Please, an example? That's not an example any better that what I said I already had read... And they get paid 100K for this? (So it says!)

If i am a psychology major, and minor in business, could i go from industrial organization psychologist to.? I am a psychology major, trying to figure out what i want to do with my future. Of course, there is not a lot of money in psychology unless medical school is involved, which i don't want to do. I was thinking of minoring in business because i THOUGHT that by doing this, i could eventually open an independent office as a psychologists.. counseling people (my dream). But i have been googling and found that by minoring in business, people normally become industrial-organizational psychologists, who also tend to be the highest paid psychologists. My question is.. if i got my bachelors with a major in psychology and minor in business, could i work eventually as an industrial-organizational psychologist and eventually become a counseling psychologist?
Industrial-Organization Psychologist? I recently decided what I want as my career, but I have a few questions about what courses I need to get there. I'm a third year University student in Canada (Ontario) and currently doing a B.A. Honours in Psychology. Courses I have taken so far include: Intro to Psych 1001 & 1002, Two Religion courses as electives, A Computer science course, Introduction to Research Methods in Psychology, Introduction to Statistics in Psychology, Intro to Health Psychology, Intro to Cognitive Psychology, Into to the Study of Personality, Intro to Human Factors in Engineering, Earth Sciences, Addiction I know I have a lot of catching up to do and possibly put in an extra year to obtain the right courses to graduate. I just need to know WHAT courses I need to take to become an I/O Psychologist. Specifics would be really helpful or anything close to it as well. I've been looking into Sociology courses and wondering are those the types of courses I should be taken moreso than the Psyc courses? In addition, any other adive you can give me about this career would be really appreciated. I've been researching it nonstop for a few days now, but the more I know the better! Please and Thank You! I'm asking what courses I should in University to get my degree and help me become a I/O Psychologist. I'm definately planning on doing a Master's and a PhD...

I have an Intermediate Microeconomic question about industrial organization...? Suppose two pizza restaurants, Al's & Bertie's, are located at either end of a residential street of length 1 mile. There are 1000 consumers who live on the street, distributed evenly along it. Each consumer dines out once a week, and in addition to the cost of the meal she has to incur a transportation cost of x, where x is the distance (in miles) she has to travel to her chosen restaurant. Consumers always choose the restaurant that minimizes total costs. First, how far along the street is the consumer who is indifferent between dining at Al's and Bertie's, in terms of the prices charged by each restaurant. Then, calculate the demand for each restaurant as a function of the two price levels.

I REALLY need help in choosing my university major. I want to be an Industrial Organisation Psychologist!? I just graduated from a Graphic Design degree but I decided to do an extra 7 years *sigh* of torturing studies to become what I want, an Industrial Organization Psychologist (IO PSY). I got accepted to do a double degree in a Bachelor of PSYCHOLOGY and Bachelor of BUSINESS. I'm enrolling now and must choose only ONE major. I was wondering which one would be the best option to take me to where I want to be: - Accounting (YUK) - Advertising (This interests me because I'm a graphic designer) - Economic (YUK) - Fiance (TRIPLE YUK) - Human Resource - International Business (Can someone tell me what I can do with an INT.BUS major?) - Management (I thought this may be too broad and not specialized enough) - Marketing (Whats the diff between advertising and marketing???) - Public Relation Since I'm interested in design, I was interested in advertising but I don't know how changing major may effect what I learn and where I end up specialising in. Thanks!!!! Sorry for the misunderstanding. I'm really interested in Designing and ALSO Industry Organisation psychology. I decided to do my first degree in designing then I finally decided to also take a pathway in I.O.Psy. I can do freelance graphic design whilst I study. I hope i made sense edit again: I already completed my degree in Design and I AM already a graphic designer but I just decided I want to take up another diff career. :)

Manager who could get company taken to an industrial tribunal? I know of a Junior Manager who has has not yet passed her probation. She is putting the public sector organisation that she works for in danger of being taken to an industrial tribunal, due to dictatorial staff working practices, which are against the Human Rights Act, Health and Safety, not to mention the Disability Discrimination Act. I would like to know what you all think about this? Do you think she will be taken to task by the organisation, eg fired or warned. Or do you think that she will pass her probation?
What should I use as quotes from this? I need 3 and it's for a paper on how Social darwinism affects Imperialsim... "This fact and its significance has hardly been noticed at all; but the stage of the industrial organization existing at any time, and the rate of advance in its development, are the absolutely controlling social facts. Nine-tenths of the socialistic and semi-socialistic, and sentimental or ethical, suggestions by which we are overwhelmed come from failure to understand the phenomena of the industrial organization and its expansion. It controls us all because we are all in it. It creates the conditions of our existence, sets the limits of our social activity, regulates the bonds of our social relations, determines our conceptions of good and evil, suggests our life-philosophy, molds our inherited political institutions, and reforms the oldest and toughest customs, like marriage and property."

Can someone recommend an industrial design firm based in the Northeastern U.S.? My partner and I are trying to locate an industrial design firm that is willing to work with a startup. We need an organization that can both engineer and prototype this consumer electronics device. We believe it will be very inexpensive to manufacture and because all of the technologies already exist, the engineering phase should be relatively fast. Every organization I've contacted wants nothing to do with a startup in consumer electronics and I can understand why, but their unwillingness to even look at the idea (or respond to a voicemail or answer an email) is frustrating. It is patent pending and a non-disclosure agreement would have to be signed. We are very well-funded, considering our size. Thanks in advance for any assistance with this!
Should I aim higher than Appalachian State? I'm a junior at a magnet high school in South Carolina and have a 3.982(on the weighted scale). I really like Appalachian State and it seems to have a good Psychology program, where I would focus in Industrial/Organization Psychology. I have visited the town and campus and enjoyed it a lot. But, some people say that I should aim higher because ASU isn't THAT good of a school. Can you offer your opinions?
